Stocking Up On Postage Stamps

Stocking Up On Postage Stamps

Do you remember the story of the Squirrel & The Grasshopper? The squirrel worked all summer collecting nuts to stock up for the winter, while the grasshopper just played all day. And well, without being too graphic, we know what happened to the procrastinating grasshopper.

You may not need $500 of postage right now, or this month for that matter. But chances are you will use the postage down the road.

Postage Increases In Value

Forever stamps are just that. They are the value of the current First-Class postage rate is (the price to send a typical letter). At the time of this article the rate is $0.49, but is set to go to $0.50 on January 18, 2018.

Since they never expire, if you have leftover Forever stamps over a long period of time, their value will increase with future postage rate increases.

In fact, over the past 10 years the price for the First-Class rate has increased 21%. And it’s increased 52% over the past 20 years! Now that’s a smart investment.
